James Gunn,

James Gunn, the author and director of Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, has shared his top three favorite Spider-Man films. Gunn is no stranger to the universe of comic book films, having tackled several himself with Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel. In addition to the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Gunn is working on a Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which is eyeing a December 2022 release. He also previously served as a chief maker on the two Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Gunn has even as of late branched out from Marvel to compose and coordinate The Suicide Squad, featuring a team of DC comics villains. The Suicide Squad’s Peacemaker, played by John Cena, is also getting a TV series spin-off, which Gunn is writing and directing.

In response to a tweet from entertainment journalist Matt Ramos’ ranking of Spider-Man films, Gunn tweeted his own top three picks. Gunn gave the top spot to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, with Spider-Man 2 coming in second and Spider-Man: Homecoming taking third. While that still leaves five Spider-Man films unranked by Gunn, his selections are a mixed blend of the Spider-Man movies that have been created. Look at Gunn’s tweet underneath:

Gunn is not alone in ranking Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse high on the list, as it is one of the most amazing inspected films to feature the character. Into the Spider-Verse also won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film, and a sequel is coming. Gunn’s second decision, Spider-Man 2, was coordinated by Sam Raimi with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. Spider-Man 2 also has stellar reviews, with most considering it the best of Raimi’s set of three of films. Gunn’s third-place spot went to Spider-Man: Homecoming, the first solo outing of the MCU’s present Peter Parker, Tom Holland. In keeping with all Gunn’s previous picks, Spider-Man: Homecoming was all around inspected, and it even featured Robert Downey Jr’s. Tony Stark helping to usher Spider-Man into the larger universe of films.

Gunn didn’t specify either of Andrew Garfield’s outings in The Amazing Spider-Man films, however those movies were not as generally welcomed, having been scrapped after just two movies. However, with Garfield’s leave, Holland was acquired, giving audiences the ongoing franchise of films. The third installment of Holland’s franchise, Spider-Man: No Way Home, is set to touch off the movies in December with audiences eager to see what the film has been keeping hush-hush, possibly in any event, giving Gunn another competitor for his favorite Spider-Man film.
