Peacemaker Eastbound and Down Director Is Confirmed By James Gunn

Peacemaker

James Gunn confirms an Eastbound and Down chief for his Peacemaker show. John Cena plays the DC wannabe Peacemaker in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and will reprise the person in an upcoming HBO Max streaming show also made by Gunn.

Gunn himself composed eight episodes of the upcoming streaming show about the superhero who sucks and will coordinate five of them. On Twitter, Gunn just affirmed the character of one more Peacemaker chief, telling fans that Jody Hill steered for something like one episode. Gunn also enlightened a great story regarding Hill’s experience on the set, relating how the chief mistakenly called the show’s principle character “Peacemaster” time and again (Hill is perhaps a major fan of the 1980s religion film The Beastmaster). The blunder amused everyone enough that patches were made in celebration. See Gunn’s tweet in the space beneath:

Contemplating the principle character of Eastbound and Down, an egomaniac baseball player with a wide range of personal issues, it’s easy to see why Gunn would tap Hill to guide some of Peacemaker. It’s unmistakable Cena’s person is being explored to act as an illustration of poisonous masculinity, and it’s difficult to think about a more harmful male person in ongoing television history than Eastbound and Down’s Kenny Powers. The more established HBO show was of course a riotous satire about an egomaniac, and Peacemaker figures to boast a similar outrageous tone. No premiere date has yet been declared yet Peacemaker is relied upon to show up in January 2022.
