Lady Gaga took to Instagram to pay tribute to the late jazz legend Tony Bennett on what would have been his 97th birthday. The pop singer posted a heartfelt message, expressing her love and admiration for Bennett, who passed away at the age of 96 last month.

“Happy Birthday Tony. August 3rd is Tony Bennett Day. A day for smiling. But I’ll be celebrating you a lot more than once a year,” Gaga wrote, showing her profound affection for the iconic musician. She mentioned that she would commemorate Bennett’s legacy every time she performs jazz music on stage and whenever she spends time with his family. Gaga also expressed her gratitude for all that Bennett did for New York City and the world.

In another post, Gaga shared three photos of herself, elegantly dressed in a black outfit, including a black beret and sunglasses, standing in front of a food cart. The images captured the essence of their shared love for jazz and the friendship they cherished.

Earlier in July, Gaga had already shared an emotional tribute on Instagram dedicated to Bennett. She expressed her deep sorrow and stated that she would miss her friend forever. Gaga reminisced about their time together, singing and recording music, and the magical power they had to transport themselves to another era while modernizing the music.

Their friendship began when Gaga performed at a charity gala in 2011, and they quickly became fast friends. Since then, they collaborated on several projects, including covers of “The Lady Is a Tramp” and the album “Cheek to Cheek.” Their final performance together was in August 2021 at Radio City Music Hall during their concert titled “One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.”

Throughout her tribute, Gaga emphasized the genuine bond she shared with Bennett, praising his optimism, belief in quality work and life, and his unwavering gratitude. Despite the five-decade age gap, their friendship was real and meaningful to both of them.

As Gaga continues to honor Tony Bennett’s memory through her music and performances, fans can’t help but feel the love and respect she has for the legendary artist. Bennett’s influence on Gaga’s life and career will forever be cherished, and their magical collaboration will remain etched in music history.
