On March 6, John Wick: Chapter 4 had its global premiere in London, with critics from all over the world attending either in person or via satellite screenings. Several actors from previous films in the series, including Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, and Ian McShane, will return alongside Reeves. The runtime of ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ is 2 hours and 49 minutes as reported by Collider last month, making it the longest one in the franchise so far. For comparison, the previous instalment had a runtime of 131 minutes followed by ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ with 122 minutes and original ‘John Wick’ with 101 minutes.
The director of the film Chad Stahelski made comments on the runtime of the movie in a recent interview. He said, “I’ve had people who I trust and know say, ‘Well, it’s too long. Cut 20 minutes out.’ And you’re like, ‘Okay, that’s your feeling, that’s your opinion.’ […] I mean, we wrote a longer movie. We wrote a bigger movie. We wrote a longer script. We wrote at least a third more scenes than the last one. We expect it to be more. We’ve always expected it to be more. And I think the test, or at least what we’re judging ourselves by, is if it’s worth it with how we executed what we want it to be more of or not?”
