Hong Kong actor, martial artist and director Donnie Yen is all set to make his debut in the action thriller franchise ‘John Wick’. The international star is one of the most exciting additions to the fourth film of the John Wick universe, which is set to be released this March.

Donnie impressed the audience in the past with his performance in the ‘IP man’ franchise and in ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, in which he played a warrior character who’s blind.  Now he is all set to be nailing another blind character with his role of assassin, named ‘Caine’ in ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’

Total Film’ earlier gave the audience a glimpse of Yen’s avatar as they have released a picture in which he looks mysterious in black coat and shades on. He appeared standing alongside Bill Skarsgard’s high table member Marquis de Gramont.

Donnie didn’t want to be just an old guy!

According to reports, Donnie Yen showed no enthusiasm in playing an “old, blind guy with a cane”. The director of the film, Chad Stahelski narrated Yen the character of ‘Caine’ referencing to Zatoichi, a blind swordsman from 60s films. Having understood the reference, Yen suggested some changes in the character’s looks. He said, he would rather fit in with the other assassins instead of playing a stereotypical blind warrior.

The director shared, “”Donnie was like, ‘I get what you’re going for. I just don’t want to be the old, blind guy with a cane.’ He came back and goes, ‘If it’s all the same to you, I’d rather be the cool guy in the suit … It’s ‘John Wick.’ It’s a suit movie. It’s cool!’ I was like, ‘You know what, Donnie? You’re absolutely right!'”

John Wick: Chapter 4” hits the theaters on March 24, 2023.
