Story
When the Moon Was Twice as Big, which is set against the backdrop of the historic Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969, centers on ten-year-old Jack, whose fascination with astronomy is sparked by both the grandeur of space exploration and his father, a test pilot. Jack’s dream of becoming an astronaut is realized as the moon landing takes place. But life has other plans, and by 2009, Jack—who is getting close to fifty—must face the monotony of his adult life. Jack has to choose between sticking to his routine and rekindling his childhood passion when faced with a choice between his dreams and his current reality.
Plot
Little Jack is enthralled with the moon landing in the summer of 1969, drawing motivation from his father, a test pilot, and his new friend Jeffrey. Jack has limitless dreams as the nation is enthralled with the excitement of space exploration. But as the years pass, his life’s course drastically changes. By 2009, Jack has lost all hope and is leading a boring life. He must reevaluate his life decisions as he approaches his 50th birthday and choose between accepting his current circumstances and pursuing his long-abandoned dreams.
