Story

Mickey7 is a member of a highly skilled but ethically dubious team tasked with terraforming a frozen planet so that future human colonists may live there. The group of experts on the team includes the mission’s mysterious leader, Hieronymous Marshall (Mark Ruffalo), and the no-nonsense scientist, Gwen Johansen (Toni Collette). The crew’s dependence on disposables is a sobering illustration of the harsh realities of space travel, wherein it is thought that human lives are expendable in the name of progress.

Mickey7 is forced to perform progressively riskier tasks at the start of the movie while also dealing with the psychological fallout from being a disposable person. His brief recollections of his previous lives are his only source of comfort, leading him to doubt the ethics of his current position and the essence of his own identity.

When Mickey8, a fresh clone made to take Mickey7’s place, is revealed, the tension increases. A series of incidents that jeopardize Mickey7’s existence as well as the mission are started by Mickey8’s arrival. Mickey7 learns that his replacements are more than just physical clones and have the ability to surpass and surpass him in terms of competence and adaptability as his paranoia and desperation grow.

As Mickey7 learns a startling truth about the project’s true goals and the true cost of human ambition, the plot thickens. Mickey7 must face his fears, the moral and ethical ramifications of his role, and ultimately find a way to assert his humanity and individuality against an intolerant system with the aid of Gwen Johansen and a few reliable allies.
