Emily Blunt has put an end to ongoing rumors surrounding Ryan Gosling’s potential involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), shedding light on Gosling’s stance on playing a superhero despite his prior comments suggesting otherwise.

In July 2022, Ryan Gosling hinted at his interest in taking on a superhero role, mentioning Ghost Rider as a character he’d be interested in portraying. Although he had been linked to the possibility of playing Nova in the MCU, he later debunked those claims. Gosling even reiterated his aspirations to become a superhero during the press tour for The Gray Man, a film directed by the Russo Brothers, stating, “I hope they (the Russos) can manifest this MCU thing… I think that would be cool.”

However, in a recent interview on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Emily Blunt straightforwardly addressed Gosling’s enthusiasm for stepping into the superhero role. Blunt revealed that she had directly asked Gosling about the possibility, and his response was a firm “No, he doesn’t.” Blunt’s conversation also showcased her playful rapport with Gosling, humorously referring to him as a “dork” for his interest in superheroes. She humorously remarked, “He’s such a dork, isn’t he? I’m going to really have beef with him about that.” Blunt added that both of them took their lack of superhero roles as a point of pride in their careers.

It’s important to note that while Emily Blunt’s statement is definitive, it may not entirely determine Ryan Gosling’s future in the realm of comic book movies. Despite her clarification, the entertainment industry’s fluid nature leaves room for unexpected twists. As the MCU continues to expand and evolve, casting choices remain flexible, making the question of whether Gosling will embrace a superhero role an intriguing topic for fans and observers alike.
