Actress Sophie Turner, best known for her Emmy-nominated role in HBO’s Game of Thrones, is set to star in the upcoming psychological thriller Trust. The film will be directed by Carlson Young, known for her work on the popular Amazon rom-com Upgraded, and produced by Twisted Pictures, the outfit behind the successful Saw franchise.
Trust marks the first project to be distributed under a multi-picture deal between Twisted Pictures and Republic Pictures, with Republic acquiring the worldwide rights to the film. The screenplay, penned by Gigi Levangie, is being kept under wraps, adding to the suspense surrounding the project.
Turner, represented by CAA and Independent in the U.K., has been making waves in the entertainment industry with her recent credits, including HBO’s The Staircase and the Netflix feature Do Revenge. She is also set to star in ITV’s Joan, where she will portray the infamous English diamond thief Joan Hannington.
Director Carlson Young, whose debut feature Blazing World premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2021, is poised to bring her unique vision to Trust. She is represented by WME, Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Greenberg Glusker.
Twisted Pictures, known for their recent box office success with Saw X, continues to establish themselves as a powerhouse in the thriller genre. The film’s executive producers include Twisted Pictures’s Dan Heffner and Ketura Kestin, along with Lena Roklin of Luber Roklin Entertainment, with Miles Koules of Koulest Production producing alongside Oren Koules.
Republic Pictures, under the Paramount Global umbrella, was revived in 2023 as an acquisitions-only label. Their slate includes the highly anticipated Samara Weaving starrer Azreal and the Jon Voight action film The Painter.
