Following an eight-year process, the divorce agreement between renowned Hollywood figure Halle Berry and her former spouse, Olivier Martinez has been finalized. The Los Angeles Superior Court has mandated Berry to pay $8,000 per month in child support for their 9-year-old son, Maceo, as reported by Page Six.
Under the terms outlined in court documents, Berry is obligated to cover her son’s “private school tuition, school uniforms, and school supplies,” with the payments directly directed to the school rather than Martinez. Furthermore, Berry is responsible for her son’s health insurance payments as well as covering 100% of all uninsured medical costs, including therapeutic expenses.
In addition to these obligations, Berry is required to contribute 4.3% of any earnings exceeding $2 million as “additional child support” for Maceo. Notably, Berry has also expressed her intention to provide $55,000 to assist with Martinez’s attorney’s fees.
The divorce agreement designates that both Berry and Martinez will share physical custody of their son on a rotational basis, with each parent having custody for half of the week — either Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday — along with alternating weekends.
Berry and Martinez’s marital journey was marked by their wedding in July 2013, but their paths diverged in 2015, prompting a joint statement: “It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children’s privacy, as we go through this difficult period.”
The extended duration of the divorce proceedings can be attributed to unresolved issues surrounding child custody. The couple initially filed for divorce in October 2015.
This recent court ruling solidifies the financial and custodial arrangements, officially closing this chapter of Berry and Martinez’s relationship.
