-EMMY-

The 2023 Emmy Awards, initially scheduled to take place on September 18, have been postponed due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood. The rescheduled date for the 75th annual ceremony is now January 15, 2024. The Television Academy and FOX made a joint announcement regarding this change. The event will broadcast live on FOX from the Peacock Theater at LA Live, celebrating its 75th anniversary by honoring talented performers, writers, directors, and craftspeople who have contributed to global entertainment over the past year.

The Emmy Awards ceremony is set for 8 p.m. ET and will follow the Creative Arts Emmy Awards held on January 6 and January 7, 2024. An edited version of the ceremony will be broadcast on FXX on January 15, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET. Jesse Collins, who won an Emmy for outstanding variety special (live) at the previous year’s ceremony, will serve as this year’s executive producer, along with Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay from Jesse Collins Entertainment.

This announcement followed the unveiling of the nominees for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, which will still occur as originally planned on September 12 at 8 p.m. ET.

The WGA strike began on May 2 after negotiations between writers and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) reached an impasse. Celebrities from various entertainment sectors have shown solidarity with the striking workers. The length of the strike remains uncertain, with SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher stating that its duration is unpredictable. Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the union’s national executive director and chief negotiator, expressed similar sentiments, stating that the strike will end when the AMPTP is willing to negotiate a fair deal with union members. He remained confident that members would remain united and steadfast until a satisfactory agreement was reached.
