Pradeep Gunasekaran a tech guy and Suryah SG a lawyer combinedly felt the need to bring out the mainstream and fact-based news to the general public of Tamil Nadu. They thought of discovering something which would present analytical information rather than the sentimental and biased stuff.
So, they came up with ?Kathir News.?
Kathir News is a digital news platform, established in the year 2018. It imparts factual data and reports on different issues across the country with a special focus on Tamil Nadu.
At first, the portal reached out to some limited people only. Eventually it grew and now it hits 4 million plus followers every month. They have more than several thousand followers on different socials like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and other platforms.
All the leading news portals had already a firm hand on this genre. It was very difficult for the Kathir News to aware the people about the false and one-sided information being carried out by the other portals. So, it was very difficult to grab everyone?s attention and serve them positive and correct information as the team was already late in the game.
?The initial phase was very arduous for us. The whole team used to get abusive and threatening calls whenever we exposed the truth behind any political statements. The whole journey was no less than a roller coaster ride? said by the co-founder Mr Pradeep.

In November 2022, when the flood had stricken Chennai a video got viral which showed a building getting submerged in water. Later it was called out by Kathir News to be a video of 2015 flood incident.
Nirmala Sitharaman once had called the army as her parivar, then the awaiting media parties modified it to ?sanghi parivar? and highlighted it as a sensational news. This was later called out by Kathir News.
Not once or twice, but more than a thousand times this portal has won hearts of people by unwrapping the truth.
Not only politics but it also focuses on cinema industry, spirituality, lifestyle and a lot more quality content that a news maniac looks for. They post articles, debates, podcast and interviews with all the required details.

As their portal is inflating rapidly, they have launched a Digital Magazine in the month of February. Also, they are going to launch their app which would be very much convenient for the people to check out the topics of their interest. Along with this they are planning to organize talk shows under ?Kuralarangam?. Alongside they have many plans which would increase their scope of expansion in the news world.
