In an exclusive interview with E! News, Jason Momoa, the charismatic actor behind the iconic role of Aquaman, shared insights into his unconventional approach to preparing for the highly anticipated sequel, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.” While many Hollywood stars adhere to strict diets and rigorous exercise regimens to achieve their superhero physique, Momoa’s method may surprise you—he keeps it simple.

“I don’t do calories,” Momoa revealed during the interview with E! News’ Francesca Amiker. “I just eat.” His dietary philosophy boils down to consuming everything without strict calorie counting. The actor emphasized that his demanding filming schedule, which often involves long days of intense physical activity, necessitates a substantial intake of food to fuel his body.

“I just eat and consume,” Momoa explained. “Because you’re burning so many calories, I just eat and consume. I’m constantly moving and work long days.” His mantra? “Work hard, eat hard, play hard, just do it.”

Contrary to common assumptions about actors’ motivations for maintaining a chiseled physique, Momoa clarified that his approach isn’t driven by vanity. Instead, it’s rooted in practicality and injury prevention. “I don’t really do it for vanity,” the 44-year-old emphasized. “It’s more so I don’t get hurt.”

Considering the physically demanding nature of his role as Aquaman, Momoa underscored the importance of maintaining strength and agility to perform stunts effectively. “You’ve got to be prepared,” he noted. “You’re putting on a suit that’s going to weigh 40 pounds. You’ve got to be able to move.”

In “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” directed by James Wan, Momoa reprises his role as Arthur Curry, the King of Atlantis, who embarks on a thrilling adventure alongside his half-brother Orm to thwart the nefarious plans of Black Manta, portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The film promises a spectacle of epic proportions, with Momoa’s Aquaman at the center of the action-packed narrative.

As fans eagerly anticipate the release of “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” Momoa’s candid revelation about his diet offers a refreshing perspective on achieving superhero status. For him, it’s not about adhering to strict dietary rules but rather embracing a balanced approach that prioritizes fueling his body for optimal performance—a philosophy that resonates with his rugged and authentic persona both on and off the screen.
