BTS member Suga is set to begin his mandatory military service in South Korea. The news comes shortly after the K-pop star concluded his Agust D tour in support of his debut album D-Day. Big Hit Music released a statement on Weverse, confirming that Suga has applied for the termination of his enlistment postponement. The company expressed gratitude for fans’ continued support and assured that they will provide assistance to the artist throughout his military service.

Suga’s decision to initiate the military enlistment process follows the recent conclusion of his Agust D tour, which featured shows from August 4 to 6 at Seoul’s KSPO Dome. After his last performance, Suga appeared on Weverse live to express his emotions and gratitude to the ARMY. While addressing his upcoming military service, he hinted at a future reunion with fans in 2025, acknowledging the requirement for able-bodied South Korean men aged 18 to 28 to serve in the military for 18 to 21 months.

In 2020, BTS received an exemption that allowed them to postpone military service until age 30, following a change in South Korea’s Military Service Act. Jin became the first member to enlist in late 2022 upon turning 30, while J-Hope began the enlistment process in April. With Suga’s impending military service, BTS reiterated their plan to reconvene as a group around 2025 after fulfilling their service commitments.

Suga, known for his role in BTS and his solo endeavors, including his debut album D-Day, released earlier this year. The K-pop artist also shared his creative journey in the Disney+ documentary “SUGA: Road to D-Day,” where he candidly discussed his artistic struggles, experiences with writer’s block, and the personal moments that influenced his music. As Suga embarks on his military service, fans will eagerly await his return to the stage alongside his fellow BTS members.
