The ‘Love Actually’ veteran revealed he had proposed to Riley, whom he initially met on the set of FX’s ‘Pistol,’ in a beautiful tribute to the 2003 romantic comedy.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Talulah Riley are ready to tie the knot!

The Love Actually star confirmed he’s engaged to the actress via Instagram on Thursday — and gave a sweet nod to one of his signature roles.

“Happy to announce that Talulah and I are engaged. Love is all around,” wrote the actor, 33, quoting a line uttered by Hugh Grant’s Prime Minister in the 2003 Christmas classic (not to mention a lyric from the Troggs song holiday-ified by Bill Nighy’s Billy Mack in the movie).

Riley, 37, also announced the news on Twitter and posted a cute picture of herself and her fiancé.

She commented, “Very happy to share that after two years of dating, Thomas Brodie Sangster and I are engaged!”

For his parts in Queen’s Gambit, The Maze Runner, and Game of Thrones, Brodie-Sangster is well recognised. Pride & Prejudice, Inception, and Westworld are just a few of Riley’s achievements.

The couple originally became together while working on FX’s Pistol, a show that chronicles the rise to stardom of the Sex Pistols. The limited series, starring Brodie-Sangster and Riley as the troubled real-life couple Malcolm McLaren, manager of the Sex Pistols, and Vivienne Westwood, fashion designer, started filming in England in March 2021.

After being seen holding hands in London in August 2021, they first fuelled romance rumours. Prior to the two appearing to announce their relationship by walking their first red carpet together at the 2022 British Academy Film Awards Gala Dinner, they went on another PDA-heavy outing in February 2022.

While the couple has kept their relationship’s specifics discreet, Riley did briefly discuss meeting her future husband when speaking with The Times in May of the same year. She mentioned how they developed a close bond while filming before they started dating.

“Until the moment that we both did,” she told the publication, “we hadn’t really acknowledged each other as a romantic possibility or potential.” And several months after they had worked together and become excellent friends, it was the same moment.

While speaking with The Guardian, Brodie-Sangster also briefly brought up Riley and discussed how their characters’ turbulent relationship will be portrayed on screen.

When asked how it felt to direct his character’s “more cutting remarks towards Riley,” he told the publication, “I wasn’t dating her at the time.” “Thankfully, we’re not too much like Viv and Malc,” he continued.

Riley previously wed Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, twice, first from 2010 to 2012 and then from 2013 to 2016.

Following Riley’s announcement, Musk, 52, wished the pair well by responding to her on Twitter (which he recently renamed X) with the message “Congratulations!” and a red heart emoji.
