Disney+’s ‘Save Our Squad’ Gets an official Release Date

The David Beckham series Save Our Squad finally gets an official release date on Disney+ along with a new trailer and first looks. The Manchester United and LA Galaxy legend returns to his East London roots to teach Westward Boys, a youthful, grassroots team that is facing relegation and is co-produced by UK indie Twenty Twenty and Beckham’s Studio 99.

Soccer legend David Beckham is hopeful that, like McElhenney and Reynolds, he will be able to give back to the community by aiding a young soccer squad secure their place in the top division in Disney+’s new docuseries Save Our Squad with David Beckham. The renowned footballer will return to the fields where he once scored in his childhood on November 9, and a teaser video released today provides us a sneak preview of what to expect.

Beckham will devote all of his expertise to the East London team known as the Westward Boys, a collection of up and coming athletes who are about to lose it all. The lads watch in wonder as their hero and sports great demonstrates how to make a free kick for them, then they try it for themselves. Save Our Squad isn’t the only Beckham-led docuseries in development, which is good news for fans who were hoping for even more David Beckham content. An official Netflix documentary on the soccer player’s life was announced over the summer. The director of the film, Fisher Stevens, will examine Beckham’s entire life, from his time on the field to becoming a father. There is no release date yet.

In addition to shedding light on the renowned player’s personal life with his children and his marriage to Victoria Beckham, the film will use historical material to take viewers on a tour of what made the athlete such a recognisable figure in the sport. The athletic content on Disney+, which features in-depth looks at some of the biggest names in sports including Tom Brady, Dwayne Wade, Peyton and Eli Manning, is rewarded with another victory with Save Our Squad.
