It seems reasonable to ask when season 5 will air given that the Stranger Things cast will be there tonight at the Emmys. Why not, you ask? We are talking about one of the most watched TV shows, after all! It has a big following, and this season has already been announced as the final one.
This following set of episodes will undoubtedly be massive, dramatic, and of course epic in scope. It will also undoubtedly be expensive, partly because of the cost for season 4 that we now know about.
Is there any possibility that tonight during the red carpet or the awards event itself, we’ll discover anything new about season 5? Theoretically, sure, but it will probably amount to little more than a hint at what follows. The Duffer Brothers are now working with the other writers to establish what lies ahead; production has not yet started and there is no specific date for when it will. In other words, everyone here will need to exercise some patience.
Given that this series has a famously lengthy post-production window and we tend to believe that we’ll be forced to wait around for at least another year before a tonne of more insight starts to surface on that, we’d be amazed if there is anything close to a debut date provided. There is at least a potential for a little shorter pause this time than what we experienced between seasons 3 and 4 due to the global health crisis no longer being in full swing; we’ll count ourselves lucky if we can start watching the final episodes in the summer of 2024.
