back

In the upcoming action-comedy Back in Action, Cameron Diaz will return to the big screen for the first time in four years after declaring her acting retirement. Jamie Foxx, who also starred in Annie, will reconnect with Diaz to work on his fifth Netflix Original. Here is what we currently know about Netflix’s Back in Action.
Future Netflix Original action-comedy Back in Action is being directed by Seth Gordon of Horrible Bosses. The script for the movie was written by Brendan O’Brien, the author of Neighbors. O’Brien is joined by Uncorked’s Datari Turner and Into the Storm’s Mark McNair as the project’s executive producers. Beau Bauman of Good One Productions and Exhibit A director Seth Gordon are additional producers.

Who are the Back in Action cast members?

Back in Action’s biggest casting bombshell is that actress Cameron Diaz is coming out of retirement to work with Jamie Foxx for the third time in her career.
Diaz previously worked with Foxx in the 1999 sports movie Any Given Sunday and again in the 2014 version of Annie. Ironically, Annie was Diaz’s final feature before announcing her retirement in 2018. Diaz came out of retirement thanks to Jamie Foxx and a little help from NFL legend Tom Brady.

Over the last few years, Foxx has been tremendously busy working on Netflix projects. Beginning in 2020, Foxx appeared in the superhero picture Project Power, the sitcom Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!, the vampire action thriller Day Shift, and the sci-fi comedy They Cloned Tyrone, which is set to be released in 2022. At the time of publication, no new cast members had been confirmed.

When will Back in Action be available on Netflix?

Back in Action is known to be under active development, with production set to begin later in 2022.
Back in Action’s release date has not been announced by Netflix; nevertheless, we anticipate that the action-comedy will be released in late 2023 or early 2024.
