Christian Bale was hard at work at Netflix filming the Gothic horror-thriller The Pale Blue Eye after his time in the MCU. The film’s filming wrapped some months ago, and all that remains is for Netflix to establish an official release date. Here’s what we know so far about Netflix’s The Pale Blue Eye.
Scott Cooper, known for films such as Crazy Heart, Black Mass, Hostiles, and Out of the Furnace, will write and direct Netflix’s The Pale Blue Eye. The Pale Blue Eye is Cooper and Bale’s third collaboration after their work on the last two movies. According to Deadline, Cooper has been trying to have this movie made for more than ten years. Along with Birdman’s John Lesher and Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek Pictures, who is fresh off the Golden Globe-winning The Trial Of The Chicago 7, Bale will produce the movie.

What is The Pale Blue Eye’s storyline?

The Pale Blue Eye on Netflix is a rendition of Louis Bayard’s identically titled book from 2006. Fun fact: The book, which includes scenes with a young Edgar Allan Poe, was a 2007 Edgar Award nominee for Best Novel. Naturally, Edgar Allan Poe is honoured with the Edgar Award.
The Pale Blue Eye on Netflix has the following basic premise:
At West Point Academy in 1830, the discovery of a young cadet’s body swinging from a rope just off the parade grounds disturbs the peace of an October evening. In a strict regimen like West Point’s, an apparent suicide is not unheard of, but the following morning, a greater horror is revealed. The heart was taken from the deceased when someone broke into the room where it was lying.
The Academy seeks the assistance of a local civilian, Augustus Landor, a former police investigator who gained some notoriety during his time in New York City before retiring to the Hudson Highlands for his health. The Academy is at a loss for explanations and desperate to avoid any bad press. Landor, who is a widower now and dissatisfied with his isolation, agrees to take on the case. He finds a willing assistant in a moody, interesting young cadet with a tendency for drink, two volumes of poetry to his credit, and a cloudy past that shifts from telling to telling as he interviews the deceased man’s acquaintances. Name of the cadet? Poe, Edgar Allan.

Who is in the cast of The Pale Blue Eye?

Oscar-winner The Pale Blue Eye on Netflix will star Christian Bale, who is renowned for his numerous iconic and nominated roles. Bale will take on the role of Augustus Landor, a seasoned detective who looks into the crimes depicted in the movie. As was already established, the movie will also have a young cadet who aids Bale’s character and who grows up to be the renowned novelist Edgar Allan Poe. That position is still open.
Harry Melling will be most known over the summer of 2021 for his recent appearances in a number of Netflix Originals, including The Queen’s Gambit, The Devil Always the Time, The Old Guard, and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. The part of Edgar Allan Poe will be played by Melling.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that an additional seventeen actors have been linked to the movie late on December 1st, 2021. The Pale Blue Eye marks Charlotte Gainsbourg’s Netflix debut as an English-French actor. Additionally confirmed are seasoned actors Timothy Spall, Toby Jones, and Robert Duvall.
