Christian Bale is shown looking into a murder in upstate New York in the 1830s in the teaser for the forthcoming movie “Pale Blue Eye.”
The first trailer for the American Gothic mystery movie, in which Bale plays seasoned investigator Augustus Landor, has been made available on Netflix. The movie follows Landor when he is asked to look into a homicide at the United States Military Academy in West Point. It is based on Louis Bayard’s 2006 novel of the same name. Augustus asks Edgar Allan Poe (Harry Melling) for assistance in solving the case since a serial killer is on the loose. Poe is presented as a young student at a military school. Poe is a well-known author and poet well known for “The Raven,” “The Fall of the House of Usher,” and “A Dream Within a Dream.”
When it comes to being physically ready for his many roles, Christian Bale is renowned for going above and beyond. He’ll do everything to provide the performance of a lifetime (or just that month—in he’s a lot of movies), including losing weight, gaining weight, and even letting his nails grow out much too long. However, Bale’s most recent change is a little more subdued: he now sports a beard. And he had a great deal of anxiety in his eyes!
Scott Cooper, with whom Bale has previously collaborated on the films “Out of the Furnace” in 2013 and “Hostiles” in 2017, wrote and directed “The Pale Blue Eye.”
Along with John Lesher of Grisbi Productions and Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek Pictures, Cooper and Bale serve as producers. Together with Tracey Landon, Dylan Weathered of Grisbi produced the film.
Dec. 23 marks the theatrical release date for “The Pale Blue Eye,” which will then stream on Netflix on Jan. 6. View the complete trailer below.
