What’s the Partner Track storyline?

The firsts in Ingrid Yung’s life are numerous. She will soon achieve the holy grail of “firsts” by becoming the first minority woman to become a partner at the legendary old law firm Parsons Valentine & Hunt. She is a first-generation Chinese American and the first lawyer in her family.

Ingrid has mastered the skill of “passing,” and she fits in perfectly with the corporate culture of the old boys. She plays in the company softball league, chats up the staff in the cafeteria, and diligently clocks her billable hours. However, Ingrid’s outsider status is abruptly brought into sharp perspective when an offensive incident at the summer picnic threatens the firm’s reputation. In an effort to contain the damage, Parsons Valentine declares a new Diversity and Inclusion Initiative and assigns Ingrid to lead the initiative. Only she’s about to complete a large deal that was supposed to be her last step in getting a partnership.

Ingrid must for the first time rethink her position inside the company. Ingrid finds herself competing against her coworkers, including her golden-boy boyfriend, and she starts to question whether the prestige of partnership is worth compromising her morals. But can she take the chance of losing the American dream that is now, at last, within her grasp?
