Black Mirror Season 6 on Netflix: What We Know So Far

We haven’t seen a new episode of Black Mirror on Netflix in over three years. The programme is returning for a sixth season and has found its first cast members after years of impasse over a sixth season and the rights. Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know about Season 6 of Black Mirror.
Despite several platforms entering the anthology model, such as CBS All Access (now Paramount+) recreating The Twilight Zone and Hulu’s attempt with Into the Dark, Netflix’s anthology series remains the best in class.

The first two seasons of the show aired on Channel 4 before it was eventually taken up by Netflix, which has since released three more seasons as well as an interactive special. The creators of the programme are Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones, who now solely collaborate with Netflix under the Brokes & Bones imprint. Season 5 of the programme, which included three episodes, was made available on Netflix on June 5, 2019.

Netflix has renewed Season 6 of Black Mirror

The series’ future has been placed on hold due to disagreements with the IP owner, Endemol Shine Group. Those disagreements appeared to come to a head when Annabel Jones and Charlie Brooker both left Endemol Shine Group to launch their own new firm (with Netflix’s financial backing and an overall production pact), and things have been pretty quiet on Black Mirror since.

Netflix made a “landmark deal” in July 2020, with Brooker and Jones getting a controlling share in the new firm Broke & Bones. They’ve since developed Death to 2020 and 2021, as well as the interactive series Cat Burglar and Attack of the Hollywood Cliches!
However, in the case of Black Mirror, the licence stays with the original firm and will remain there if Endemol and Netflix fail to reach a deal to either licence the show again for a new season or buy the rights completely.

Black Mirror went dark again until May 2022, when Variety claimed that a contract had been finalised and a season 6 is in the works at Netflix (Banijay and Netflix declined to comment for their story). “It’s been nearly three years since Season 5 of the dystopian drama launched on the streaming service in June 2019, but insiders say a new anthology season of “Black Mirror” is in the works, and casting is now underway.”
While particular story details are being kept under wraps, Variety hears that Season 6 will contain more episodes than Season 5…

Cast of Black Mirror Season 6

That was followed in July 2022 by the announcement that a large number of new cast members had joined the production and that season 6 would be lengthier than season 5. (more than 3 episodes). Among the stars expected to appear in Season 6 are:

We said previously in the post that USS Callister was speculated to be getting a sequel episode or movie of some kind. Aaron Paul, you may recall, appeared near the close of that episode. Of course, he could appear in another episode, but it’s worth mentioning.
According to sources, filming on the new season has already begun. The Olive Press, a Spanish publication, stated in late June 2022 that filming for the sixth season was already beginning in Southern Spain, notably on the Costa del Sol. We’ll keep this article updated as fresh Black Mirror season 6 information becomes available.
