Black Mirror is returning to Netflix for season six after a long wait. The critically acclaimed dystopian anthology series on technology’s impact on humans is returning for another season. Since being snatched up from Channel 4 following series two, Charlie Brooker’s dystopian series has been one of the streamer’s milestones, setting the bar for high quality and unique ideas.

Season 1got premiered in 2019. After the COVID-19 epidemic, creator Charlie Brooker claimed in an interview that filming more episodes of the show felt wrong in the wake of such a real-life global disaster. According to a source, the sixth season will likely follow the fifth, which cut the amount of episodes to three but extended them to feature film length. Bandersnatch, an unique playalong feature, preceded Season 5, which consisted of three episodes: Striking Vipers, starring Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Matteen II, Smithereens, starring Andrew Scott as Sherlock Holmes, and Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too, starring Miley Cyrus as a popstar

Season six is expected to have more episodes than season five, according to Variety. Details about the cast and specific stories of the show have yet to be confirmed. “The latest season is even more cinematic in scope, with each instalment being treatedas an individual film,” Variety reports. It’s unclear how much Brooker and his co-creator Annabel Jones will be involved in the series, which is still the work that has grown associated with his name.

However, Brooker and Annabel Jones‘ indie Broke & Bones, which has received finance and a partnership with Netflix, is now producing Black Mirror. The film was previously produced by the duo’s Banijay-backed company House of Tomorrow, and Banijay retains the rights. Broke & Bones has produced a number of films, including Rob Lowe’s Attack of the Hollywood Cliches and the mockumentary specials Death to 2020 and Death to 2021, which include a slew of A-listers.
