Criminal Record, a one-hour London thriller starring Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo as detectives engaged in a battle over a storied murder conviction, has received an eight-episode series order from Apple TV+. The show is produced by Tod Productions, STV Studios, and BAFTA Award nominee Paul Rutman.

A potent, character-driven thriller set in the centre of modern London, Criminal Record is defined as such. One young woman in the early stages of her profession and the other a well-connected man determined to safeguard his legacy are drawn into a showdown over an old murder case by an anonymous phone call.

The show takes on racial concerns, institutional shortcomings, and the struggle to unite a divided Britain. Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty is portrayed by Capaldi from Doctor Who, and Detective Sgt. June Lenker by Jumbo from The Good Fight and Detective Sergeant June Lenker is portrayed by Critics Choice Award contender Jumbo (The Good Wife, The Good Fight, The Beast Must Die).

Rob, a TVLine reader, pointed out that Capaldi and Jumbo previously acted together in the miniseries Torchwood: Children of the Earth, in which they respectively played Lois Habiba and John Frobisher, the permanent secretary of the Home Office.
