The first trailer for Marvel’s Thor: Love & Thunder has arrived, just over a month before the film’s premiere. The highly anticipated picture, which will be released exclusively in cinemas in July, will be a first for the MCU in that it will be the first time a character will receive a fourth solo film. In this new adventure, Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor, but he won’t be the only version of the hammer-wielding character to appear. Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor will also be introduced in Love & Thunder, with Natalie Portman returning to the MCU following a hiatus from 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok.
Thor: Love & Thunder, directed by Taika Waititi, follows up with the titular god following 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Following Thanos’ devastation, Thor has taken a surprising turn away from heroism and has chosen to live a more peaceful life. Thor’s peaceful life is disrupted when the ruthless Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) appears, compelling him to return to the superhero game. Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, and the majority of the Guardians of the Galaxy ensemble also appear in Thor: Love & Thunder.
Marvel Studios (via Thor: Love and Thunder News) debuted the first footage from Thor: Love and Thunder during Sunday night’s MTV Movie & TV Awards. The footage, which features a critical moment between exes Thor and Jane, was introduced by Waititi. Take a look at the video below.

Thor is on the hunt for his beloved hammer Mjolnir, which was famously shattered in Ragnarok by his sister Hela (Cate Blanchett). It’s unclear how Jane obtains the repaired Mjolnir, but judging on the Love & Thunder trailer, she’ll already know how to use it by the time she reunites with her ex. Jane may be seen winding up Mjolnir in the last minutes of the video, precisely like Thor does, implying her comfort with the weapon.
