Following the most recent episode of Fear the Walking Dead, original cast member Alycia Debnam-Carey reveals her departure from the show. The actress officially announced her exit via a post on Instagram. Alicia, played by Debnam Carey, was first introduced in Fear the Walking Dead’s debut episode, making her one of the few original characters left on the show.
Fear the Walking Dead is a spinoff of AMC’s popular horror show The Walking Dead, which aired in 2015. Debnam-character Carey’s was recently involved in a terrible fight with a zombie in her most recent appearance. Alycia battles a fever that threatens to convert her into a zombie after being bitten by the latter. Alycia departs to aid others after surviving the fatal fever.
Her departure comes after it was revealed earlier this month that she will star in Hulu’s new show, Saint X. Alycia Debnam-Carey announced her departure from Fear the Walking Dead after seven seasons with an Instagram post. The actress said in the sad statement that it was time for her to “move on as an actor and as a person.” She also claimed that the showrunners had come up with a “beautiful, hopeful, and elusive” method to end Alicia’s story.
Her character, Alicia Clark, has gained tremendous critical acclaim and is considered one of the show’s most popular characters. Clark was bitten and infected with a fever that would transform her into a zombie in Sunday’s rollercoaster episode, titled Amina, in which she fought off a zombie before getting bitten and infected with a fever that would turn her into one. Later, after saving Strand, Alicia explains that she saved him so that he could do what she couldn’t. Strand bids a tearful farewell to Alicia as she takes a raft alone to save others heading towards the blazing Tower, afraid she may not survive the journey.
The Fear the Walking Dead actor is scheduled to join the cast of Hulu’s new programme Saint X, replacing Victoria Pedretti in the lead role, it was reported earlier this month. Saint X is a psychological thriller about a young woman’s tragic death while on vacation in the Caribbean. The plot revolves around how the sad event drove the victim’s sister down a terrifying path as she seeks the truth.
