Fox released its series roster for the 2022-23 season on Monday morning, which includes two anchors of the network’s schedule from previous years.

911 and The Resident, which rank first and fifth in overall viewers (excluding sports) on Fox this season, had not yet received renewal deals as of publishing time. This Thursday, both shows will finish their fifth seasons.

Negotiations to bring both programmes back are still underway, and they may not be completed by the time Fox announces its schedule to advertisers on Monday afternoon. 911 is Fox’s top-rated series in the crucial ad demographic of adults 18-49, in addition to dominating the network in overall viewers this season.

Fox would have holes to fill on Monday and Tuesday nights if 911 and The Resident were not on the schedule. That’s on top of the void left by Thursday Night Football’s transition from the network to Amazon’s Prime Video in the autumn. The Resident and 911 are both produced by Disney’s 20th Television, which was Fox’s sister studio prior to the blockbuster $71.3 billion sale that saw the studio and News Corporation’s cable entertainment holdings belong to Disney in 2019. 911: Lone Star was renewed by the network for 2022-2023.

“We’re in good faith negotiations with 20th,” Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier told reporters Monday morning. “Based on our lengthy experience with that firm, we think we’re in pretty good shape.” “[911 executive producer] Ryan [Murphy] is one of our favourites, and we’re thrilled to have 911: Lone Star locked and loaded.” We’re negotiating in good faith, and we’re happy about it.”Fox also took the uncommon move of not releasing a fall schedule on Monday morning, instead emphasising the network’s overall schedule rather than individual time periods. Instead, the network announced a slate of series renewals and series orders spanning multiple genres.

“We weren’t planning on releasing a schedule,” Collier explained. At Monday’s presentation, Fox will promote its cross-platform programming, including its ad-supported streaming service Tubi, and “we didn’t think focusing on the linear grid was the way to go,” according to Collier.

Due to the lack of a schedule, advertisers and fans will have to wait and watch how Fox fills the NFL void on Thursday, as well as which programmes will premiere in the fall and which will premiere later in the season. The Masked Singer, as well as the comedy Call Me Kat and Welcome to Flatch and the gourmet competition Crime Scene Kitchen, have been renewed for an eighth season on Fox. Next Level Chef, Hell’s Kitchen, and The Cleaning Lady were previously renewed, as were the network’s animated shows Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, The Great North, Housebroken, and The Simpsons. On February 12, 2023, the second season premiere of Next Level Chef will air after the Super Bowl.

Fox will also shift Fantasy Island and Lego Masters from their intended summer launches to midseason. In late October, a celebrity holiday version of Lego Masters, dubbed Holiday Bricktacular, would air over four nights. The future of several unscripted series that aired this season are still unknown. Alter Ego, I Can See Your Voice, Domino Masters, The Real Dirty Dancing, and its Joe Millionaire reboot have yet to be decided by Fox.
