Whether you like it or not, the world’s attention has been focused on the long-awaited television adaptation of Resident Evil. Will Netflix extend the series for a second season after seeing arguably the best rendition of the series yet? Time will tell, but we’re confident that Netflix will renew Resident Evil in the near future.
Resident Evil is a Netflix Original series developed by Andrew Dabb that is based on the Capcom game of the same name. Constantin Film and Moonlighting Films, the same producers behind all of the Resident Evil films, are behind the series. Netflix is currently working on a number of video game adaptations.
Albert Wesker and his daughters Jade and Billie relocate to New Raccoon City in the year 2022. Years later, it is discovered that the planet has fallen victim to the t-virus, where mutant creatures and zombies prowl. Jade Wesker is now left to scour the globe for a cure in order to save the remaining survivors of civilization.
Has Resident Evil been given a second season on Netflix?
Netflix has not yet decided whether to order a second season of Resident Evil as of this writing. Given the popularity of the franchise, there will undoubtedly be a lot of eyeballs on the programme, which ensures that Resident Evil will appear on numerous top ten lists across the world. It remains to be seen, though, if it can garner the viewership required to secure a second season.
At this point, it’s important to take note of the show’s reviews, which may discourage some viewers from ever giving it a shot. Although reviews from reviewers were ultimately divided (it has a 62 percent rating on RottenTomatoes), viewers have been rather outspoken about their distaste for the show thus far.
The series only has a 3.4/10 on IMDb and a 26 percent on RottenTomatoes as of July 15th.
For perspective, it should be noted that Netflix has a reputation for mistreating the source content when adapting anime or video games. Certainly, that is the issue at hand. This appears to be mentioned frequently in fan reviews. For instance, the title of one IMDb review reads, “This is NOT “Resident Evil”!”
