Kid Cudi, better known as Scott Mescudi, was named yesterday as one of the stars of John Woo’s next action thriller Silent Night. John Woo has previously directed movies like The Killer(1989), A Better Tomorrow (1986), Mission Impossible 2 (2000), and many more. Is set to return to the big screen with ‘Silent Night’. Kid Cudi will also be joined by cast members Joel KinnamanHarold Torres, and Catalina Sandino Moreno.

Since 2008, when his first mixtape was released, Mescudi has played a major role in the hip-hop music scene. He started his acting career later, appearing in the HBO series How To Make It In America and debuting in 2014’s Need For Speed. The actor has also appeared in films and TV shows like Westworld, and We Are Who We Are in addition to the Oscar-nominated Don’t Look Up, and the A24 horror film X. His upcoming Netflix project Teddy will be both his writing and directing debut for him. The film will tell the story of Godlock (Kinnaman), who sets about avenging his son who was killed in a gang fight on Christmas Eve. Mescudi appears as Dennis Vassel, a detective who runs into the main character. There’s something special about this movie that sets it apart from typical revenge stories. The film features no dialogue at all.

The Executive Producer of the movie said after the announcement that Mescudi will join the cast: “Based on what we’ve seen from the set so far, it’s clear that Scott has a presence and gravitas that is incredibly captivating. He is a powerful addition, and perfect complement, to this stellar cast.”

Capstone Studios will produce Silent Night in partnership with Thunder Road Films, the same production company behind John Wick.
