After nine years, Amanda Bynes will be emancipated from her conservatorship. On Monday, a judge gave a tentative verdict observing that the conservatorship is “no longer required”, finally ending her court-mandated arrangement the former child actress was put under in 2013. Amanda Bynes’s lawyer said “I’m excited for her. She is excited”. She will not be present for the upcoming hearing as per her attorney David Esquibias. Bynes got fame after appearing on Nickelodeon’s “All That” and then did a series of hit movies in early 2000s. In 2013, she set her house’s driveway ablaze and was put in an involuntary mental institution. In the meantime, her parents filed an application in court demanding her conservatorship and in 2014 Bynes’s mother Lynn Organ was given her complete conservatorship.

Bynes is currently in college, doing a course in fashion designing. Since 2020, she had been staying in a facility which deals with drug addicts, alcoholics or other medical problems, as per a source close to the family Bynes had been living there due to a medical issue. In 2014, Bynes exhibited irrational behavior when she made a couple of tweets accusing her dad of being abusive but later withdrew her remarks alleging a microchip in her brain forced her to do so. Soon after she was admitted in a psychiatric hospital in California and she tweeted that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, adding she was seeing a psychologist regularly. In an interview to People Magazine in 2018, Bynes spoke frankly, “I just had no purpose in life. I’d been working my whole life and I was doing nothing. Everything I worked my whole life to achieve, I kind of ruined it all through Twitter.”

In her interview, she also revealed that she started smoking marijuana at the age of sixteen and did cocaine. She also said that her 2010 film “Easy A” co-starring Emma Stone made her quit acting. In February, when Bynes filed the petition to end her conservatorship, her mother’s lawyer said that it was always “intended to be temporary” and “Lynn is extremely happy and thrilled and proud of Amanda and ready to terminate this conservatorship based on the hard work Amanda has done.” In the next hearing it is being anticipated that there will be no objections, after all her mother helped her in filing the petition. Her pyschiatrist wrote in the report she “has no apparent impairment in alertness and attention, information and processing.”

Today Amanda Bynes is 35 years old, has gotten engaged and is living a healthy life.
