Season 3 of Raising Dion: Netflix Renewal Status & What to Expect

Raising Dion

Raising Dion returned for its second season in February 2022, after what seemed like an eternity. While Raising Dion season 3 is undoubtedly on the horizon in terms of plot development, will Netflix decide to renew the show for a third season? Here’s what we know so far.
Raising Dion is produced by Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, which has an overall film deal with Amazon Studios that begins in early 2021. Ja’Siah Young reprised his role as Dion Warren, Alisha Wainwright as Nicole Warren, Jason Ritter as Pat Rollins, and Sammi Haney as Esperanza.

The series, believe it or not, first aired on Netflix in October of 2019, which meant that we had been waiting for the return of Raising Dion for well over two years by the time February 1st, 2022 rolled around.
So, how much do we know about a third season? Let’s take a look at what to expect and how well the show has done thus far.
The show has not been renewed in advance, so it will largely depend on how well the new series performs on Netflix. If the series is renewed, we should find out about its future sometime this spring, based on the previous renewal.

One thing to note is that Raising Dion’s social media accounts have been silent since February 1st. Given their small following, this isn’t necessarily indicative of anything, but it’s worth noting.
Raising Dion season 2 was watched over 100,000,000 hours on Netflix globally in its first 26 days, 108.75 million to be exact.
Between February 28th and March 6th, the series dropped out of the global top 10. It worked for less than 9.11 million hours in that week.

Unfortunately, we can’t compare hourly data with season 1 because Netflix used different metrics back then. Season 1 of the show reportedly received 32 million views in the first 28 days, with 60 percent of all views coming from outside the United States.
Looking at FlixPatrol data, which takes the raw top 10 positions for any given day around the world, we can see that the show held its ground well for the first week before plummeting after February 12th.
We also saw an increase in viewership for the first season around the time of the season 2 release, which is perhaps just as important for the show’s future.

This is significant because it demonstrates that the release of the second season drew in a new audience, as well as some rewatching.
We’re waiting to hear from Nielsen on how well the series did in the United States in order to see if it gets renewed.
IMDb Pro provides some information about the popularity of the series in their database. IMDb receives over half a billion hits per month, making it a good indicator of a show’s popularity.

Dion and Nicole face off against a “familiar” villain and his army of minions in the final episode of Raising Dion season 2 (ISSUE #208: Who You Are).
The series concludes with an end-credit scene (similar to how Marvel teases future projects) depicting a futuristic dystopian world with Jason Ritter and his arm looking over Atlanta saying that it’s “history,” and Mind Mover then jumping into the scene.
Given how far in the future this scene is set, we’ll most likely have a long way to go before Dion and Pat face off in a fight of this magnitude.
