Singer Gracie Abrams who just dropped her first studio album ‘Good Riddance,’ talked about her new tracks with Vanity Fair. The star also shared her excitement being one of the opening acts for Taylor Swift’s record breaking tour, “The Eras Tour.”

‘Good Riddance’ comprising 12 songs with no features was released on Friday.

Talking about opening up for pop superstar Taylor Swift, Gracie said, ““I’m not going to be okay. I’m attending every minute of every night[of The Eras Tour]. I’m trying to learn from her in every way I can, and I’m trying to fucking hear all my favorite songs.”

The singer talked about the evolution of her songwriting. “I found when I was really little that my instinct was to write before talking to other people about the way that I felt. I happened to also fall in love with the writing process. It makes me want to be uncomfortable more often. It makes me want to feel everything to then be able to write about it all, like this horrible trick I’m playing on myself, immortalizing my feelings,” she said.

She further added, “I think a lot of my songwriting in the past almost placed blame on others before reflecting on my own role in a situation. With Good Riddance, I wanted to grow out of that really desperately…. I wanted to be more thoughtful and more accountable.”

Abrams shared her experience working in Dessner’s Long Pond Studio in New York’s Hudson Valley, where they have completed the album. “Immediately, I was like, All I want to do every single day in this isolated space is wake up early and write until it’s very, very, very much past my bedtime. I feel like all of the feelings that I worked through with this album were kind of the realest feelings that I’ve ever had and [about] the most formative experiences in my life.”

The star further talked about how the new album changed her life, “Making this album improved my quality of life in lots of different ways. Every aspect of being there kept the process so pure and kept it so honest. I so admired watching his[Dessner’s] kids become people and their personalities form, in this beautiful place that is so far away from all the bullshit noise.”

‘Good Riddance’ is now available to stream on all platforms.
