Although we can’t say we’re very thrilled, Virgin River on Netflix appears to have had a successful year in 2022.
According to Deadline, the love drama is placed sixth among the top 15 original series on streaming providers in the Nielsen U.S. streaming charts for 2022. The popular series outperformed other top shows including Dahmer, The Crown, Inventing Anna, and Prime Video’s The Boys with an amazing 13.6 billion minutes watched. See the whole list below.
Netflix’s Stranger Things takes the top slot, followed by Ozark, Wednesday, Cobra Kai, and, of course, Bridgerton.
Just one month after Netflix declared season four to be a success, Virgin River achieved an amazing rating. It turns out that among the most watched English shows on the streaming service for 2022, the show’s most recent season is rated eighth.

If you’re not acquainted with the show, it centres on Melanie, a nurse practitioner and midwife who relocates from Los Angeles to Virgin River in the hopes of starting over. She discovers, however, that life in a quaint tiny village is more difficult than she had anticipated.
Melanie’s actor Alexandra Breckenridge discussed the show’s immense popularity in an interview with New Beauty. She stated: “Virgin River performed better than we could have expected and its viewership is still expanding… The only way I actually feel “success” is when I suddenly receive more press attention and more recognition. That has taken some getting used to for me.”
The 40-year-old actress discussed the fifth season of the show, saying that new episodes could air earlier than usual. “We have had the pleasure of starting earlier than normal this season,” she told a media site.
“We’ve been filming in the winter for the previous four seasons, but now that we’ve begun to spend more time there in the summer, I’ve had a chance to see a little bit more of the sights and incredible things to do in [Vancouver],” Breckenridge added. It was as chilly and wet as usual. Winters may be so hard, but now I’m thinking, “Wow.” Now I get it. I understand this town.
