Producer of the beloved Pirates of the Caribbean series Jerry Bruckheimer is being candid about the prospect of Johnny Depp returning to the series. The producer has added an intriguing detail to his previous remarks, which ended with him noting that the team is still working on whether or not the actor would be considered for a return to the franchise.

Additionally, it was previously revealed that Margot Robbie would collaborate with Disney to develop a female character for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. But the actor has made it clear that Disney has abandoned the idea. When the producer suggested there was a chance Johnny Depp may return, he sounded unconcerned and said, “You’d have to ask them. I can’t answer that question. I really don’t know. I would love to have him in the movie. He’s a friend, a terrific actor, and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do.”

As part of the profile written by The Hollywood Reporter, Jerry also commented on how the rumours that Jack Sparrow will die off were unfounded. He claimed that the plan had been tried in the past but failed. Johnny Depp was scheduled to return in the sixth instalment of the Pirates franchise, but it was at this point that media rumours about his defamation suit against his ex-wife Amber Heard began.

Earlier, certain media outlets had speculated that the Jack Sparrow persona may die. Johnny Depp was getting ready to resume his part in the sixth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series at the time the defamation action against his ex-spouse was being considered in court. But with the revelation of Amber Heard’s alleged abuse, Disney cut him loose.

The project was later revealed to have been scrapped by Disney as a result of Amber Heard’s allegations of abuse. Amber Heard was ordered to pay Johnny Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages after the jury found her guilty of slander on June 1. Johnny Depp had stated on the trail that he would like to reprise his role as Jack Sparrow in the series and that the character deserved a suitable send-off.
