The best in kid and teen entertainment on broadcast and online services will be recognised at the first-ever Children’s & Family Emmy Awards on Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11. The Children’s & Family Creative Arts Emmy ceremony will be hosted by JoJo Siwa on December 10 and the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards will be presented by Jack McBrayer on December 11.
During the second night of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ first Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, Heartstopper, Sesame Street, and The Baby-Sitters Club took home top prizes. Sesame Street on HBO Max won the prize for best preschool programme, while The Baby-Sitters Club on Netflix won best children’s or family viewing series. Heartstopper from Netflix won the award best young teen series.
Olivia Colman won outstanding guest performance in a preschool, children’s, or young teen programme (Heartstopper) and the show Heartstopper took home the most awards of the evening with four total. Kid Cosmic from Netflix was also a multiple award winner, taking home two. Helen Mirren, who won the award for best host of Cartoon Network/TBS’ Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses, was among the other prominent winners.
The awards ceremony this past weekend was one of the first since NATAS and the Television Academy announced in December that they would be realigning the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards. It was also the first stand-alone expansion of the Emmys since 1979. The full list of winners from the inaugural Children’s & Family Emmy Awards can be found below:
