Nora Felder, the music supervisor for “Stranger Things,” won an Emmy for her work in securing Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill.”

The Netflix hit “Stranger Things” took up the Outstanding Music Supervision Emmy Award at the 2022 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

The episode “Chapter Four: Dear Billy,” which featured the Kate Bush song “Running Up That Hill,” earned Nora Felder, the composer for Stranger Things, The Guardian, Tank Girl, and Seraphim Falls, an Emmy.

The song had a boom in popularity with the release of Stranger Things season 4, making the 1980s tune a smash once more. It started to ascend the rankings and reached its highest point at the top on iTunes. The song’s music video has received 100 million YouTube views by July.

The evil Vecna is seen to control and slaughter humanity in the television series, and the only means of survival is to “listen to music.” The persona of Sadie Sink, Max Mayfield, is taken over by Vecna while listening to her favorite song, Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill.”

The song was chosen by Nora Felder because she believed that its lyrics, especially the phrase “a pact with god,” accurately portrayed Max Mayfield’s experience. Max believed that a miracle was the only thing that could deliver her from her suffering, and in this situation, the song masterfully captures her emotions and experience.

In her acceptance speech, Nora Felder singled out Metallica and Kate Bush, whose music also appeared in Season 4 of Stranger Things.

This is the first time Stranger Things has won the honor despite having previously gotten three nominations. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Big Little Lies, and I May Destroy You are some of the other programs that have received the honor.
