The confirmed identity of the new Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been revealed to the audience. Fans have learned this before film’s release, we were aware that T’Challa wouldn’t be replaced after Chadwick Boseman’s sad passing in August 2020 in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

A major question remained: Could the MCU sequel be a Black Panther sequel without a person wearing the suit? The initial teaser made it clear that the film would feature a new Black Panther, but it left us wondering who it might be. Now it has been confirmed that the role of Black Panther has officially been handed over to T’Challa’s sister, Shuri, who is played by Letitia Wright in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the theatrical release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

After her brother’s death, Shuri changes her mind about whether there can ever be another Black Panther in Wakanda Forever and turns into the protagonist. A person who consumes the “Heart-Shaped Herb,” which is cultivated on Vibranium and endows them with superhuman strength, agility, and other talents, acquires the capabilities of the Black Panther. Wakanda Forever begins with Shuri frantically trying to create a synthetic version of the herb in an attempt to save her brother from a mysterious illness after the antagonist Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) burned all the Heart-Shaped Herbs in Wakanda during Black Panther. However, she ultimately fails.

Following the assassination of Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) by Namor (Tenoch Huerta), Shuri tries to recreate the plant once more and succeeds by using fibres from a bracelet that Namor gave her that are made of vibranium. She consumes the herb, travels to the Ancestral Plane, acquires the powers of the Black Panther, and then appears in front of the Wakandans wearing a brand-new Vibranium suit. She then urges them to fight Namor and his kingdom Talokan.

Ramonda, the Jabari leader M’Baku (Winston Duke), and even a revived Killmonger were on fans’ lists of potential candidates, despite the villain’s apparent demise in Black Panther and request that his body be buried at sea. Shuri was always one of these candidates. The release of Wakanda Forever was less than two months away. Currently, only cinemas are showing Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
