The holiday season is the best time to connect with your audience & grow your brand

The holidays are the season of giving. But they are also prime time for social media marketing and promotion. Why not do both? I recently spoke with Brandon Mimms, the founder of the Northern 8 Group and the North Pole Company, to understand how brands and influencers can leverage a social media strategy this Christmas to get their name out there. According to Mimms, there?s no single secret to social media success, but you can reach a larger audience with engaging content and a little hard work and determination. Keep reading to find out what Mimms told me are the five best actionable ideas for boosting your social media account this holiday season.

1. Reels/IGTV

The holiday season demands a higher frequency of posting than usual. When people are wondering what to buy for gifts, you want your ads or posts to appear with the answer. After seeing a product on Instagram, 79% of viewers seek out more information about the product. Mimms shares that, ?Reels and Instagram TV are a great way to make sure you?re showing up at the top of people?s social media feeds. Keep these reels on brand and on the theme, and you?re off to a great start.?

2. Charity/Donations

People across the globe are affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Mimms reveals, ?In my experience, charity is the number one way to boost your brand while also making the world a better place.? In addition to managing accounts for celebrities, athletes, and business professionals, he also runs The North Pole Company. This charity gives gifts to people in need while also promoting the brands that donated those gifts. ?Considering the current global crisis, I?d say it?s more important now than ever,? he adds.

3. Giveaways

Everyone and I mean everyone, loves giveaways. Posting free gifts on your social media accounts will draw followers at a rapid speed. You?ll get thousands of comments from people wanting to win a free gift for their friend or loved one. If you?ve never tried a giveaway campaign, Mimms says the holidays are the time to start.

4. Bank on UGC

UGC, aka ?user-generated content,? is an excellent way for brands to connect with their audiences in real-time. As per Mimms, it?s all the more essential during the holiday season. If you?re trying to market a particular product, why not post a picture of a customer showing off that product? UGC is the gift that keeps on giving. ?Once people realize that you repost UGC, they?ll be tagging you in their posts all the time. This boosts engagement on your account and boosts your rankings on Instagram,? he points. People are more likely to trust an advertisement from a fellow consumer. So much so that 85% of people find UGC more compelling than brand content.

5. Prompt Customer Service

Customer service is a must-have all year round, but it?s especially critical during the holiday season. I agree with Mimms when he says, ?Around the holidays, people are constantly looking for gifts for their loved ones. If they send you a DM or comment on your post with a question, you better be there to answer them promptly!?

Social media marketing during the holidays is a unique task. But according to Mimms, once you master holiday promotions, the rest of the year won?t seem as intimidating. ?Take care of your clients, and they?ll take care of you,? Mimms said. ?Integrity is the most important aspect of the business, especially during the holiday season.? Happy posting!
