AEW Full Gear 2024: What Happened and Who Came Out on Top

Deonna Purrazzo (with Taya Valkyrie) vs. Anna Jay
Purrazzo started with a headlock, but Anna Jay quickly countered with a sunset flip, though Deonna escaped. Jay then hit a flipping neck breaker. After a flatliner, Purrazzo locked in a submission, but Anna fought free with a thrust kick. Deonna followed up with a Russian Leg Sweep, but Anna stunned her with a neck breaker. Taya Valkyrie interfered with a spear on the outside, but the referee ejected her. Purrazzo wrenched Anna's arm back, but Jay countered into a cradle pin for the win!

Lexy Nair Backstage with Billie Starkz
Lexy asked Billie about the ROH 4-Way qualifier for the Women’s Cup, but before she could respond, Red Velvet and Leyla Hirsch interrupted, claiming they could both defeat her. Athena joined in, saying she had already beaten them all.

4-Way Match: Dante Martin vs. Mortos vs. Komander vs. Buddy Matthews
The match was high-paced and chaotic. Mortos locked in stereo wrist locks on Dante and Komander, but Buddy Matthews took them both out with a dive. Komander followed with an incredible rope-walk dive. The action was relentless, with Mortos hitting a lung blower on Komander and a Samoan Drop on Dante. The match featured near falls and huge spots, with Buddy Matthews eventually stealing the pin on Dante after a double foot stomp.

Big Boom A.J. vs. QT Marshall
With Paul Wight on commentary and The Rizzler as timekeeper, A.J. dominated early but was distracted by QT’s security team, who caused chaos at ringside. A.J. regained control, hitting a spinebuster and a flying forearm. Despite interference from QT's team, A.J. powered through, and after a spear from Big Justice, he hit QT with a powerbomb for the win.

Mercedes Moné Backstage
Mercedes told Kamille to watch her match from the catering area, offering a sharp comment, "Watch and learn."

AEW World Tag Team Championship 4-Way Match
The Kings of the Black Throne faced off against The Outrunners, The Acclaimed, and Private Party. There was non-stop action, with Brody King and Malakai Black dominating at first. The Acclaimed and Private Party delivered hard-hitting moves, but in the end, Private Party retained the titles after a thrilling series of moves and near falls.

Orange Cassidy Backstage
Orange Cassidy fired up before his match with Jon Moxley, declaring that AEW meant everything to him, and he would show Moxley that AEW didn’t need him.

MJF vs. Roderick Strong
The match was a back-and-forth battle with strong chops and devastating backbreakers from Roddy. MJF hit a powerbomb on the apron and a DDT for near falls. The action was intense, with MJF eventually locking in the Salt of the Earth armbar, forcing Roddy to tap out. Afterward, MJF attacked Roddy's arm with a chair, but Adam Cole and others came to his rescue, leading to a retreat by MJF.

TBS Championship Match: Mercedes Moné (c.) vs. Kris Statlander
The match was a brutal back-and-forth, with both women showing immense resilience. Mercedes focused on Statlander's knee, but Kris fought back with powerful suplexes and a Staturday Night Fever. After a dramatic series of near-falls, Mercedes managed to escape Statlander's finishing move and rolled her up for the win, retaining her title.

Jay White vs. Hangman Adam Page
This match was a high-stakes brawl, with both competitors targeting each other’s legs. Jay White connected with a Blade Runner to seal the victory after an intense struggle, reminding Adam Page of his career victories.

Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher
In an incredible back-and-forth contest, Fletcher and Ospreay showcased their athleticism with high-impact moves. The match featured crazy spots like Ospreay’s hidden blade and Fletcher’s top-rope brain buster. After a thrilling back-and-forth, Fletcher pinned Ospreay following a jumping tombstone piledriver.

Mariah May’s Champagne Championship Celebration
In a dramatic turn, Mariah May celebrated her AEW Women’s World Championship with Mina Shirakawa, but a shocking betrayal ensued when Mina attacked Mariah, spearing her off the stage through tables.

TNT Championship Match: Jack Perry (c.) vs. Daniel Garcia
Jack Perry used underhanded tactics to gain an advantage, including trying to get Garcia disqualified. However, Garcia persevered, locking in the Dragon Tamer submission and winning the TNT Championship after Perry tapped out.

AEW International Championship Match: Konosuke Takeshita (c.) vs. Ricochet
The match was a showcase of athleticism, with Ricochet’s springboard and flipping moves taking on Takeshita’s raw power. In a hard-fought battle, Takeshita retained his title after a devastating power-drive knee strike.
