In the hearts of those who knew her, Diane M. (Nease) Flood will forever be remembered as a beacon of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family, community, and causes dear to her heart. As the world mourns her passing on March 16, 2024, at UW Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, we reflect on the remarkable life of a woman whose impact reached far and wide, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on January 30, 1954, to Gerald and Katherine Nease of Rankin, IL, and later Lake Mills, WI, Diane’s journey was one marked by resilience, compassion, and a deep sense of purpose. From her early years in Lake Mills, where she graduated from high school in 1973, to her marriage to Charles Flood on August 7, 1976, at the First Congregational Church in Lake Mills, Diane’s life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family.
Throughout her life, Diane wore many hats, working as a beautician, administrative assistant, and buyer, but it was her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend that brought her the greatest joy and fulfillment. Her love for her husband, Charles, and their two sons, Peter and Jacob, knew no bounds, and her devotion to her four grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Alexandra, and Skylar, was evident in every smile, hug, and cherished moment spent together.
But Diane’s impact extended far beyond the walls of her home, as she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her community and causes she believed in. An active member of Salem United Church of Christ in Verona, WI, Diane was deeply involved in various clubs, organizations, and boards, though she humbly requested that her contributions not be publicly recognized. For Diane, giving back was not about accolades or recognition but about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
In the face of adversity, Diane’s resilience and strength shone brightly, particularly in her courageous battle against Uveal Melanoma. Despite the challenges she faced, Diane never wavered in her determination to participate in clinical trials, hoping to contribute to the search for a cure and inspire others with her unwavering spirit.
As the family prepares to honor Diane’s memory with a private Celebration of Life at the farm in Lake Mills, WI, where she loved to spend time and work alongside her loved ones, we are reminded of her commitment to keeping her promise to her parents to care for and maintain the farm. It is a testament to her enduring legacy of love, responsibility, and integrity.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Glacier’s Edge Council, the local Scouts BSA council her sons were involved in as Scouts. This gesture serves as a fitting tribute to Diane’s love for her family and her dedication to supporting organizations that enrich the lives of others.
As we bid farewell to Diane M. (Nease) Flood, we take comfort in the knowledge that her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, service, and dedication will continue to inspire and uplift us, guiding us as we navigate life’s journey with grace, humility, and unwavering faith.
