After deciding to take on the task of swimming across the English Channel, Ederle sold her story to two newspapers in order to raise money for her expedition. Her intense training, her first unsuccessful attempt, and her eventual triumph are all depicted in the film, which also highlights her coach’s and family’s unwavering support.
