An upcoming live-action rendition of the well-known 2016 animated picture Moana is planned. Disney

has began the remake’s production earlier this year.

The original film’s titular character, Aulii Cravalho, has announced she won’t be playing the same part in the upcoming live-action adaptation.

Although it has been revealed that Dwayne Johnson will return to the movie to reprise his role as the shape-shifting demi-God Maui, there has been no official word on the leading woman as of yet.

Auli’i Cravalho already said in May of this year that she will not be reprising her role as Moana in the next live-action movie. With an Instagram video, the actress revealed the important information. She is still involved with the remake, though, as one of the producers.

“My life and career were gloriously changed when I was cast as Moana at the age of 14. I won’t be playing the same part in this live-action retelling. The casting must, in my opinion, authentically reflect the personalities and narratives we wish to depict. She stated in the video, “I can’t wait to find the next actress to express Moana’s brave spirit, incredible wit, and emotional power.
