Story
“Blitz” tells the story of George (Elliot Heffernan), a young man attempting to make his way home amid the chaos of the Blitz, set against the backdrop of World War II in London. After becoming separated from his mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) during an air raid, George sets out on a treacherous journey through the streets of war-torn America, where he meets a colorful cast of characters that includes Sergeant Thompson (Stephen Graham), Major Harris (Leigh Gill), Lieutenant David (Harris Dickinson), and Nurse Emily (Erin Kellyman). George gains courage, resiliency, and an understanding of what it means to truly survive in a city under siege as he battles to get back to his family.
Plot
The film “Blitz” delves into the bravery and selflessness of common individuals engulfed in conflict. George’s journey becomes a monument to the human spirit in the face of hardship as he makes his way through wartime London, meeting numerous obstacles and surprising allies. Rita symbolizes the struggles of families ripped apart by war, illustrating the effects of historical conflict on the individual as well as the group. Rita is caught between fear and hope. A gripping story, excellent acting, and a poignant look at bravery and survival during one of the worst times in modern history are all promised in this film.
