David Foster, 74, recently shared a video on Instagram showcasing his 2½-year-old son Rennie David’s impressive drumming skills. In the video, Rennie sits behind a red drum kit, wearing black headphones, and confidently plays a drum solo. The toddler demonstrates a remarkable sense of timing, capturing the attention and pride of his father, who watches nearby.
This is not the first time Rennie’s musical talents have been showcased on social media. In October, Katharine McPhee Foster, 39, also shared a video of their son playing the drums, jokingly suggesting that Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker might have some competition.
In a previous interview, David Foster and Katharine McPhee Foster discussed their son’s early interest in music. While they acknowledged Rennie’s fascination with the drums, they remained uncertain about whether his musical inclination would persist as he grows older.
“We think [he’ll be musical], but we don’t know,” said Foster. He expressed the unpredictable nature of children’s interests and noted that their son might develop different passions over time. Despite his uncertainty, Foster appreciated Rennie’s current enthusiasm for the drums and mentioned the toddler’s love for watching their drummer, JR Robinson.
Katharine McPhee Foster echoed her husband’s sentiments, acknowledging Rennie’s early interest in music. She humorously mentioned his fascination with imaginary drums and emphasized that, at his young age, it was challenging to predict his future musical path.
