Mysterious ‘X’ Sign on Twitter HQ Triggers Official Investigation in San Francisco

Authorities in the area are looking into the installation of a huge flashing “X” sign that was put without permission on top of the former Twitter headquarters in San Francisco on Friday.

According to the Associated Press, the city launched an investigation into the sign last week because the company lacked the necessary permits to adhere to design and safety standards.

According to Patrick Hannan, spokesman for the Department of structure Inspection, any replacement signage needs a permit to maintain “consistency with the historic nature of the building” and to make sure the signage is securely fastened.

San Francisco police intervened on Monday to prevent workmen from removing the platform’s bird emblem from the building’s exterior, claiming they hadn’t blocked off the walkway to protect people in case any of the sign’s components or other materials dropped.

Elon Musk said earlier this month that he was working to rebrand the social networking platform to X. This modification follows those efforts.

The “X” corporate offices are situated in the heart of San Francisco, just a few blocks from the city’s City Hall.

The headquarters is situated just across from a residential structure, as social media users have noted.

The sign can be seen flashing brightly in videos, clearly visible from the street below.

Musk changed the bird emblem from Twitter to a “X,” which appeared at the top of the desktop version of Twitter on Monday. Musk paid $44 billion for the service formerly known as Twitter last year.

Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino wrote in a series of articles about the platform’s renaming that X will change the “global town square.”
“X is the future state of unlimited interactivity – centred in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking – creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities,” she said. “Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’re only just beginning to imagine.”

In both his personal and professional lives, Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla, has frequently employed the letter X.
