In the wake of Donald Trump’s contentious debate with Kamala Harris, his campaign and supporters have launched a barrage of complaints and counterclaims. They argued that ABC moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis were biased against Trump and lenient towards Harris, accusing them of uneven fact-checking and mishandling of debate topics. Some even speculated that Harris had employed high-tech tricks during the debate, specifically pointing to her choice of accessories—her earrings—as evidence.

Harris appeared in a sleek, dark pantsuit paired with an ivory pussybow blouse. The standout pieces were her chunky gold and pearl earrings from Tiffany & Co.’s “HardWear” collection. This collection, according to Tiffany’s, symbolizes “enduring resilience and freedom.” The earrings, specifically the “HardWear Double Pearl Hinged Earrings in Sterling Silver,” are valued at $800. They are stylish, but they do not feature any wearable technology, contrary to the claims circulating in Trump’s camp.

Instead, some supporters misidentified Harris’s Tiffany earrings as a pair of NOVA H1 Audio Earrings from the German tech/design brand Icebach Sound Solutions. These earrings do have wireless sound capabilities and utilize “Directional Sound” technology, which transmits audio discreetly through a freshwater pearl. However, this design is not currently available in gold, nor does it match the Tiffany pieces Harris wore.

The false claims about Harris’s earrings reflect a broader trend within some political circles to leverage conspiracy theories and misinformation as part of their strategy. This episode not only highlights the contentious nature of modern political debates but also the lengths to which supporters will go to find or fabricate evidence to discredit their opponents.
