How’s this for meta? A TV lawyer shitting on a TV show that exists simultaneously in our world and in his. “Juries today grew up on all of that CSI bullshit,” he gripes to Cisco outside the courtroom. “They see blood evidence, forget it.
The gloves were bad enough. But this?” Motive, means, and opportunity – prosecutor Andrea Freemann has them all. So Mickey, already floundering, decides to ratchet up the boorish attitude. Maybe his past as the street fighting man of the legal profession still burns. Maybe he really does still got that dog in him.

He counters Freemann’s lines of inquiry with an equal degree of hostility, declaring out loud that the blood belongs to Mitchell Bondurant and that the hammer belongs to Lisa. But to be honest, it’s encouraging to see him go in this direction. Later, Mickey says to Lorna, “Freemann was going to bring the hammer into the proceedings, anyway.”
His stern demeanour only made it impossible for her to parade a group of lab specialists and DNA nerds before the jury as though their case were a casting call for the newest CSI series.
“Miguelito!” Speaking of auditions, Hayley has thrown a surprise birthday celebration for her father, who is infamous for detesting his birthday, and Mickey’s soap actress mother Elena (Angélica Mara) has shown up without warning.
Izzy discovers that Mickey despises his birthday since Elena always makes it about her, which is exactly what occurs in the conference room at Haller & Associates (in a humorous aside). Mickey first appreciates being able to leave the joyful atmosphere until his phone rings. But later, he discovers who is phoning.
Jeff Trammell, Lisa’s ex-husband, has suddenly appeared (Adam J. Harrington). Cisco really couldn’t even locate this individual. In vain, he had one of his associates scour Ensenada for Jeff.
