Introduction of 5g across nations

New deal between American Tower and Verizon Communications has been entered into to support the continuous rollout of 5G networks across the US. A standalone 5G network with network slicing for Fixed Wireless Access services has been launched in Europe by Nokia and Telia Finland.

Aerial Experimentation and Research Platform for Advanced Wireless and Ericsson have joined forces to advance the usage of 5G for drone operations in support of smart agriculture. The platform is financed by the National Science Foundation and a group of industry partners. The demonstration involved real-time observation of grazing patterns in a field of cattle.

With improvements to support advanced 5G use cases in the ongoing drive for innovation, Aleppo has introduced the most recent version of its 5G Converged Core solution.

The Optiva Charging Engine by Optiva is the first 5G telecom charging solution to be sold through Google Cloud Marketplace, allowing CSPs to quickly acquire the software and connect to other components of their architecture. Amdocs also launched Amdocs Charging, which facilitates convergent monetization of new services spanning standalone 5G and beyond. Amdocs Charging is already used by top service providers, including two Tier 1 operators in North America.

That is the goal of Coverage Above and Beyond, a new initiative by SpaceX Chief Engineer Elon Musk and T-Mobile CEO and President Mike Sievert to deliver cell phone coverage everywhere. The strategy will make use of Starlink, SpaceX’s constellation of low-Earth orbit satellites, and T-wireless Mobile’s network, potentially doing away with our feared “dead zones” for good. At the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, Comcast revealed intentions to reduce the amount of electricity used to process each terabyte of data by half by 2030 and double network energy efficiency. As part of the rollout of multi-gig Internet speeds across the United States, the company also announced a successful test of the last technical element required to deliver multi-gigabit symmetrical speeds powered by 10G and DOCSIS 4.0 throughout the entire Comcast network. The company expects to reach more than 50 million homes and businesses by the end of 2025.
