Production on Gotham Knights is starting as the next superhero project on The CW is getting underway. Natalie Abrams, the series’ writer and executive producer, confirmed the information via Twitter. In her statement, she also shared a picture of a set chair bearing the show’s logo.

In the post-Bruce Wayne universe of Gotham Knights, Batman’s adopted son is one of those accused of killing the cape crusader. He teams up with the other suspects, who are the offspring of Batman’s worst enemies, in an effort to clear his name. They must work while navigating a city that is rapidly degenerating into chaos. The CW has only revealed the broad strokes of the series; they have not yet offered any additional information. The video game with the same name is unrelated to the television series.

Gotham Knights is the title of the most recent comic book project from The CW’s gradually diminishing collection. It joins the likes of DC’s Stargirl, which is now airing, as well as the upcoming new seasons of The Flash and Superman & Lois. Despite this forthcoming increase in material, The CW isn’t quite the TV superhero powerhouse it once was because it recently cancelled Naomi (one season), DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (seven seasons), and Batwoman (three seasons). The network was also well known for its flagship Arrowverse series Arrow, which ran for eight seasons, and the recently cancelled Supergirl, which ran for a total of six seasons.

As writers and executive producers for the project, Gotham Knights brings Batwoman alumni Abrams, Chad Fiveash, and James Stoteraux back together. Executive producing is Greg Berlanti, who has worked on a number of CW shows, many of which are based on comic books. David Madden and Sarah Schechter also serve as executive producers. The producer is Warner Bros. Television. It’s difficult to help but wonder what Gotham Knights’ future may hold in light of the significant show reorganisation undertaken by both The CW and Warner Bros. Discovery. There is still plenty of time to raise anticipation, though. Hopefully, this programme will have a successful future.
