Elton John, a British singer who recently collaborated with Britney Spears on the song “Hold Me Closer,” has discussed how the partnership came about and expressed excitement about the amount of confidence the song will provide the celebrity, according to Mirror.co.uk. She was in producer Andrew Watt‘s home studio recording her parts for Hold Me Closer, an Elton John duet, six years after her last album and nine months after being released from the conservatorship that had controlled her life for 13 years.

He acknowledged that his husband David Furnish came up with the idea to work with Britney, according to Mirror.co.uk. Elton claimed to have always admired the singer and was immediately enthusiastic about the notion of assisting her in restarting her career once her conservatorship ended last year. Spears had reportedly announced her musical retirement in the wake of the incident, but Elton acknowledged in an interview with The Guardian that they had to ensure she was satisfied with the song’s release and obtain her consent.

John said, “She’s been away so long – there’s a lot of fear there because she’s been betrayed so many times and she hasn’t really been in the public eye officially for so long. We’ve been holding her hand through the whole process, reassuring her that everything’s gonna be alright.” Elton continued by calling Britney “broken” and openly revealing that he had previously experienced the same emotions, admitting that he was in a “bad place.”

To commemorate the release of her first single in six years, Britney Spears recently published a nude picture of herself on Twitter. On August 26, the pop princess released “Hold Me Closer,” their eagerly awaited new song with Elton John. With just a towel covering her lower half and her chest covered with her hands, Britney left nothing to the imagination in the photo. That certainly is a reason to rejoice!

The song by Britney and Elton was released on August 26, but the singer tweeted about it two days earlier. She wrote, “Okie dokie … my first song in 6 years !!!! It’s pretty damn cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time … @eltonofficial!!!! I’m kinda overwhelmed… it’s a big deal to me !!! I’m meditating more and learning my space is valuable and precious !!!”
